Grungy Monday 36: Who Loves Ya, Baby?

New challenge for this weeks Grungy Monday from Linda Ledbetter and Studio L3.  Of course the day before Valentines Day only a Tim Holtz inspired Valentine would be appropriate.  Thanks to Simon Says Stamp online store for sponsoring this weeks challenge.  They are a great place to get ALL things TIM HOLTZ and are awesome people!

I started with a manila tag that is actually a shipping tag from Avery, the dimensions are 4 3/4 x 2 3/8.  I layered on Fire Red Distress Crackle paint, then cover that with a layer of Picket Fence Distress Stain.  I wasn't satisfied with the amount of crackle so I added a layer of Crackle Accents on top of those layers.  I used my heat tool between each layer.

I then used the heart stamp from the City Central stamp set, added a heart stamp in Fire Brick red on top to color in the heart.  On the right edge I used the star border from the same set.  The phrase is from a discontinued Stampin' UP! set.  I also used the brush end of a Stampin' UP! marker in Cherry Cobbler to add the word Love to the banner of the stamp.

I added a small piece of Tissue tape that says Chocolate then next to that I layered a ticket from the Tim Holtz Addage Tickets (I distressed the tag using Fire Brick distress ink) using the Tiny Attacher.  I add a key & lock brads and a heart clip from Hobby Lobby's Spare Parts collection.

I have been wanting to create something with the Shrink Plastic.  I punched a heart shape, making sure to punch a hole before shrinking.  After shrinking I added a piece of red tissue tape with Glossy accents then I colored the back of the tape with the Cherry Cobbler ink marker.  I attached the heart to the top of the tape with brown Bakers Tape.

That's it, seems like a lot of steps for a small tag but it didn't take that long to complete.  I have also decided to enter this tag into the 12 Tags of 2012, new on Tim's Blog today.  Check it out, he will be doing one each month in 2012.

I was playing around with the editing part of my phone's camera and took this picture in sepia tone.  You could do the tag in all browns and it would still look neat.

These are the supplies I used to create this tag:
