I have always wanted to make ATC's. I even purchased a couple of paper pads a few years (yes, years) ago to try my hand at it. But then I got caught up in the stamping and card making fever and ATC's were soon forgotten.
I've been following Linda Ledbetter, Studio L3 for a while now and enjoy the art she creates. Like Linda I love All Things Tim, Tim Holtz so I decided I would start participating in Linda's Grungy Monday challenges. I went to Linda's blog last week to see what the challenge was for this week and there it was, ATC! Yikes!!
Luckily I had just ordered my first Tim Holtz stamps and was expecting them any day. It is the City Central set from Stampers Anonymous and there is not a stamp in it that I don't love!!
I started with a 2.5 x 3.5 piece of cream cardstock. I added Dusty Concord and Walnut Stain distress ink to the back ground using Ranger's Ink Blending tool. I stamped the background with the eyechart stamp (off stamping to lighten the color) and the eye stamp from the set using Black Soot distress ink. I then used the Creativity saying stamp and used a brush tip pen in black to isolate certain words, creativity, art, allow, yourself, to stamp in places on the background.
I stamped another eye stamp on separate paper then colored in the iris with some of the Dusty Concord. I cut this image out and layered it over the background stamped eye image using a Zots Jumbo glue dot.
At the bottom I added a piece of Tim Holtz tissue tape. To the left of the eye image I added a small safety pin putting it through the background cardstock. I then used thin jute thread to tie a Tim Holtz word stick, Play, to the safety pin.
And that's it, my first finished ATC card. Now I can say Yipee instead of Yikes!
